• Available in 500ml, 1 litre & 2.5 litre bottles.

• Formulated according to Neelsen Zentralbl, Med. Wiss,. 21:497, 1883; Fortchr, Med., 3:200, 1885.

• Stable for two years.

• Known as Ziehl Neelsen Conc. Carbol Fuchsin, or ZN Carbol Fuchsin or Carbol Fuchsin Strong in some texts-in reality are the same formula.

• Suitable for use with all Mycobacteria with control of differentiation being achieved by altering the acid or its strength in alcohol for differentiation, and differentiating between acid and alcohol resistance - ref. School of Microbiology Manual University of Melbourne.

• Staff normally avoid preparing because of the risks of inhaling the basic Fuchsin powder which is potentially carcinogenic and because of the risks associated with handling Phenol which is highly corrosive in the crystalline state, not to mention the tendency of this dye to spread widely and the difficulties with cleaning up glassware.
